FOUNDATION-4-VETERANS April 25,2014
WHY WE NEED YOU article by: James Thomas Fridas
We are planning on a "Help the Homeless Yard Sale & Auction" sometime in May, why some time? Because they are planning on paving the street and adding new sidewalks and the rain has made a mess of the street and the project is behind schedule!
If all goes well we will hold another in September at another location so keep an eye out for the next auction.
See what happens when we pesky Christians pray for rain! We get it in buckets and more buckets, because Jesus loves us! So someone better tell the gov to cancel the drought! I would like to encourage anyone who would like to come by the East County Veterans Resource Center to see what we are up to and learn about all the organizations that are trying to help the Veterans and the homeless numbers among them.
We have many groups like the Delta Veterans Group and they are a bunch of great guys, then we invite "out reach" and "in reach" operators from other organizations to speak at our center. The Foundation is in need of video personnel, board members, volunteers and more.
We are planning on a "Help A Homeless Vet Yard Sale & Auction" some time in May in addition we may be holding other auctions for the homeless vets and the non profit agencies that need help from financing homeless people to other worthy projects in the community.
Remember that we are Veterans helping Veterans and we do not receive a salary! We do it because we care and that is the fact of the matter, so if you or someone you know can volunteer to be in our committee's then please contact me, you can call, email, or use the comment section below.
May 17 2014 which is Armed Forces Day we are planning a Yard Sale & Auction 2 Help Homeless Veterans which is a Saturday, we are facing an obstacle, the city is tearing the street up in front of the yard to put underground water and power so the new streets may take longer which means we may have to change the date.
The company doing the work says that they should be done by then but the rain has delayed the project for a couple of weeks so I am a little uncertain, I will give you early notice if things change!

FOUNDATION-4-VETERANS help needed
FOUNDATION SEEKS VOLUNTEERS article by: James Thomas Fridas
Our mission is to assist veterans and we are hoping to work and co-operate with other organizations such as the East County Veterans Resource Center, Delta Veterans Group plus a number of other charities that assist veterans we will address later.
Thank you for reading my post, this is the beginning of our new foundation, if you would like to meet with me I am always at the East County Veterans Resource Center at 2106 2nd Street in Antioch California, this is on the corner of 2nd Street and "L: Street.
If you can access our facility on any Wednesday after 5 pm I am there normally until 8 pm so volunteers are being sought. What kind of volunteers you ask? OK for starters we are looking for volunteer board members five to nine if possible, grant writers are needed as well as anyone who knows how to address the 501 (c) 3 for the state of California and the IRS.
I am available other times at the center but these are the best times to meet with me as I am also working to place our veteran show on television so we can get the ball rolling. Those who wish to help our veterans need to see our donation pages listed at the following websites:

It was a bad day at bedrock for America's Veterans as the congress cut billions of dollars from Veterans benefits and retirement to give this money to criminals who sneak into our country so they can give our money to these criminal's called illegal aliens or undocumented workers, really now?
What dummy thinks breaking into someones home is excusable by redefining the type of entry call it unauthorized entrance of a person?! Horse manure, bull pucky and cow feathers!! So now we see more than a third of these criminal types in our prison, state and federal as well as jails so that idiot Sotomeyer on the bench said its insulting to call illegal aliens criminals, really? What do you suggest we call them you loon!??
LEGIONNAIRES AND AMERICANS Article by: James Thomas Fridas
If a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound? How do you know if it does or not? Just like the tree the story you are about to read is in its nature very similar to the tree falling in the forest.
The story you are about to read is as true as possible, there is no way to explain it except to give you the facts, this is a life and death struggle to survive that it makes one wonder why there never was a movie made to portray these unusual hero’s, when you read their encounters with death and the struggle to stay alive and continue on their mission without fail one wonders at the courage of the Pigeon, that’s right the lowly pigeon, these hero’s from WWI and WWII, our story is about a courageous Pigeon named Mary of Exeter, so famous she was awarded the Dickens Medal.
Here is the story of one very famous and very brave war Pigeon. This amazing story is but on of dozens of Pigeons that served in both WWI and WWII fighting to return home no matter the cost, some wounded mortally and others killed in action.. Many Pigeons were shot, caught between cross fires and hunted down by the infamous Hitler’s Falcon Brigades! So here we have a picture of a brave Pigeon that was on a mission, let me take you back to the day of the flight, the British had intelligence agents throughout Europe, many were the famous 00 agents as seen in Ian Flemings 007 series this was 132 who had information about a convoy of Nazi troops and supplies headed for North Africa and it was urgent as needed to get this information to Allied Headquarters in London and fast, the Pigeon keeper in Germany told 132 he would translate the message and send it by midnight on his best Pigeon Mary of Exeter.
So after he coded the message he sent Mary at midnight hoping she would arrive in London by early am at Allied headquarters, as Mary flew toward England Hitler’s coast watchers with their trusty Falcons kept a sharp eye out for Pigeons, and sure enough one of the coastal watchers saw in the moonlight a Pigeon and knew this was an allied Pigeon on a mission, so he sent his Falcon up to catch the Pigeon it should be noted that the Falcon travels at 60 miles per hour and so does a good Pigeon so how does he over take a pigeon?
The Falcon goes up about a mile and the pigeon is only about 150 feet above the water, the only defense a pigeon has is its eyes as they can see above and behind as they are crucial to their survival and as the Falcon went up and got into postilion the Falcon dived and as it did Mary moved to the right swiftly and the Falcon scored a serious gash along Mary’s side and went back up in the air to attack again!
Once again the Falcon went into a dive and scored another serious cut along Mary’s side as the Pigeon was moving out along the ocean to far for the Falcon

This is a sample post for Veterans and American Legionnaire's who would like to keep up to date with things that are going on in our post and any other post as well, we are adding many feature which will take time and hope to have a directory to lead you to the topic that you are interested in, there will be articles as well as membership information, in the future we are planning on using word press exclusively for Veterans and Legionnaire's.
We are also looking at some Veteran products for home shoppers, and those who want the convenience of in home shopping and information guides as well.
Plans include a breakfast club, a touring club and a crafts club, some of my friends are doing these things individually so I thought we should add them, your input will be very valuable as to these things, in fact one of my neighbors belongs to Post 161 in Antioch California and is a member of the Marine unit at Post 202 in Brentwood, so we have members all over the place and need to start a recruiting drive which i believe is essential to the growth of any and all posts, there are numerous veterans who are unaware of the services provided by the Legion and the posts.
We plan on having stories about veterans as well as general stories of those who served , for example I know you have heard or the famous chef Julia Child's who has since passed away, but did you know she was with the OSS during WWII as a spy!? That's right she was a spy, and that is just one of the things we will be bringing you, I think I will call that individual section in each post, "DID YOU KNOW"?

as Falcons need to land occasionally and are not long range birds like pigeons, it turned and headed back as Mary continued at 60 plus miles per hours on her mission to Allied Headquarters where she arrived at 8am her handler in London observed her cuts and gave her 22 stitches which is the equivalent to a 200 pound man receiving 4,000 stitches, incredible is all I can say, the message was delivered and Mary was saved by her handler and the allies stopped another shipment of arms to the Axis troops in North Africa, hooray for the good guys!!!
Plus a job well done “Mary of Exeter” we have to say that because there was another Pigeon named Mary who was also a hero, I will write about a number of other animal hero’s, hurray for Mary of Exeter and may she live in Pigeon heaven in comfort!

We are creating the Foundation-4-Veterans to assist veterans in attaining housing, autos and expense capital, you see there are to many veterans that are running into hardships imposed on them because of the economical downturn in the economy, many lost their jobs then their homes or living quarters then their cars and ended up on the streets.
So as soon as we are able to get our 501(c) 3 from the IRS we will inform you and from all veterans to all those who support us we truly THANK YOU!

SHOP awards grant funds to eligible national and regional non-profit organizations and consortia to purchase home sites and develop or improve the infrastructure needed to set the stage for sweat equity and volunteer-based home ownership programs for low-income persons and families. SHOP funds must be used for eligible expenses to develop decent, safe and sanitary non-luxury housing for low-income persons and families who otherwise would not become homeowners. Home buyers must be willing to contribute significant amounts of their own sweat equity toward the construction or rehabilitation of their homes.
